What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. They let the site remember something between page views, such as a signed-in state or whether you have visited before.
Cookies we use
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics (first-party) | Distinguishes one visitor from another for visitor statistics. | 2 years | Analytics |
_ga_<container ID> | Google Analytics (first-party) | Keeps the state of your current visit for visitor statistics. | 2 years | Analytics |
archive_session | YUNIWAVE | Keeps you signed in to the password-protected archive. Not readable by scripts on the page. | 7 days, or until you lock the archive | Strictly necessary |
yuniwave-consent (browser local storage) | YUNIWAVE | Remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics cookies. Never sent to a server. | Until you clear your browser storage | Strictly necessary |
The Google Analytics cookies are set only on the live site, and only after you select Accept in the cookie banner. If you later decline, we remove them. The yuniwave-consent entry is not a cookie: it is kept in your browser’s local storage, is never sent to a server, and only remembers your choice so the banner does not ask again. The archive_session cookie is set only after you enter the archive password, and it is removed when you choose to lock the archive. We do not use advertising cookies.
Consent
On your first visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Until you choose, and if you select Decline, Google Analytics runs in consent mode: no analytics cookies are set, no identifier is stored in your browser, and Google receives only limited cookieless measurements, such as the page viewed, the time, your browser type, and your consent choice. If you select Accept, the _ga cookies above are set. Advertising features stay off either way.
To change your choice, select Cookie settings at the bottom of any page. If your browser blocks local storage, the site cannot remember your choice and the banner appears on each visit, with analytics cookies off until you accept.
How to control cookies
- Cookie settings: select Cookie settings at the bottom of any page and choose Accept or Decline. Declining removes the Google Analytics cookies from this site.
- Browser settings: every major browser lets you block cookies or delete the ones already stored. Blocking all cookies will stop the archive from keeping you signed in.
- Google Analytics: install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to stop Google Analytics on every site you visit.
